Sunday

Sunday morning rain is falling
Steal some covers share some skin
Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable
You twist to fit the mold that I am in
But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do
And I would gladly hit the road get up and go if I knew
That someday it would bring me back to you

Just got back from spring break in Palm Springs last night. Enjoying a quiet yet productive Sunday with someone and some things on my mind. Looking forward to a productive term.

Bumblebee

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn't know it so it goes on flying anyway.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!

Thinking of you today Jenna.

Tip Toes

Tip-toe down the empty stairs
And slide across the floor
What's on my mind
Just you and me
There's no room to be scared
And now I'm at the door
The dewy grass under my feet
And now I'm in your arms
You kiss me under the stars

Wild Thing

You mustn't give your heart to a wild thing. The more you do, the stronger they get, until they're strong enough to run into the woods or fly into a tree. And then to a higher tree and then to the sky.
-Holly Golightly
A wise girl kisses but doesn't love, listens but doesn't believe, and leaves before she is left.
-Marilyn Monroe

Am I a wild thing? Is this why I leave in a hurry? Is this why I push away?
So far, I like him. He's a fun one. I sort of want to stick around this time.

Maybe Fred Baby got it right:
You know what's wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You're chicken, you've got no guts. You're afraid to stick out your chin and say, "Okay, life's a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that's the only chance anybody's got for real happiness." You call yourself a free spirit, a "wild thing," and you're terrified somebody's gonna stick you in a cage. Well baby, you're already in that cage. You built it yourself. And it's not bounded in the west by Tulip, Texas, or in the east by Somali-land. It's wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.

Desiring spring and drooling over the photos in Nicola Formichetti's Blog. This model is so dreamy and I can't wait for the sun in two weeks. Spring break can't come fast enough.

Lose My Head

I know that I'm no angel
I have seen myself from every angle
Now I'm right outside your door

Some positive rejection
Foreshadowing frustration
Feels like I've been here before
But I'm saving it all for the morning after

Cause I don't need my conscience when I lose my head
Got all of my excuses lying in your bed
It's like tasting lightning striking and I need you to find me
Baby when I lose my head

The view from this position is of my inhibitions
Torn apart and scattered on the floor
Now am I taking myself too seriously
Don't I know by now that eventually
All that it takes is to love my mistakes
So I'm saving it all for the morning after

And I don't need my conscience when I lose my head
Got all of my excuses lying in your bed
It's like tasting lightning striking and I need you to find me
Baby when I lose my head

There's gotta be a million things that could be said
But I don't go for talking when I lose my head
Like the pouring rain
I can't explain
I go insane
Baby when I lose my head
Baby when I lose my head

Saving it up for the morning after
Not going to slow down
I'm moving faster
I'm saving it all for the morning after.

And I don't need my conscience when I lose my head
Got all of my excuses lying in your bed
It's like tasting lightning striking and I need you to find me
Baby when I lose my head

There's gotta be a million things that could be said
But I don't go for talking when I lose my head
Like the pouring rain
I can't explain
I go insane
Baby when I lose my head
Baby when I lose my head

And I don't need my conscience when I lose my head
Got all of my excuses lying in your bed
It's like tasting lightning striking and I need you to find me
Baby when I lose my head

Saving it up for the morning after
Not going to slow down
I'm moving faster
I'm saving it all for the morning after.

Now and then, I wish that I could be a little more carefree like these girls, a little more willing to lose my inhibitions and a little more willing to show the me that is burning inside and the me that is so out of the box. I have my moments and like to think that I know the right time and place to act a certain way, but I wonder if I hold back just a little bit too much.

King of Hearts

Get with it, get with it,
Did you think that I was blind enough to not realize?
Well better luck next, better luck next guy.
Why was it, why was it, every time that we would have it out you wouldn't cry?
You'd just place your bet, make the call, go run and hide.

Simple Choices

So, first I would like to say that I haven't actually watched the Bachelor (Bachelorette) since the first few seasons. After a while, the stories all begin to repeat themselves. However, last night I couldn't help but notice all the buzz about the season finale of lucky number 13, so I did some reading.

For the few of you out there who do not watch this show, here's the scoop: to put it simply, Jason Mesnick, the bachelor, narrows the women down to two (Molly Malaney and Melissa Rycroft). ABC promises, as always, for the most dramatic final rose ceremony yet. This time they meant it. Throughout the entire season, viewers were led to believe that Melissa is the one; she's smart, she's fun, and she's pretty. The girl has everything going for her and she has the man of her dreams on her arm, right? Wrong!

In the "After the Final Rose" episode which also aired last night, viewers learn of a brutal plot twist. Jason, publicly, on national television, decides to let his viewers know that Melissa is not in fact the woman for him. He dumps her in front of an audience of strangers. Now this is similar to every season when the last girls are left not knowing which one will be leaving alone, however, this time, Jason made his choice, the wrong choice. He proposed to Melissa, asking her to be his wife and the stepmother of his young son, Ty. He made his bed, he should have to lay in it. Yet, at some point along their journey with one another, Jason decides he was wrong and he still loves Molly, the cute, nerdy girl whom he rejected at the final rose ceremony. He decides to reveal this information to Melissa by publicly humiliating her and then brings Molly out to ask her for a second shot. She graciously accepts him back.

Some say that Jason had no choice but to play along because of a deal with ABC, but have a heart man! You've successfully humiliated two presumably great women. Not to mention, the emotional roller coaster this must put a young child through by seeing his dad go out with, kiss and then propose to two different women in only a matter of weeks. It definitely isn't the best example to set for a young boy. Needless to say, the man seems cold hearted. I understand that we're all human and have every right to change our minds. In light of this, I believe that there are more tasteful ways to go about a change of heart than Jason's method.

My nine year old brother happened to get wrapped up in the show with my parents this season; God help the kid. But hearing his thoughts on it were priceless. My mother asked him, if he were Jason which girl he would choose and why. The little guy responded, "Well they're both great, so I'd just draw straws and then stick with my decision." Priceless. If only love were that simple.

If only.

A Man Once Said:

"And then what sustains our relationship is I’m extremely happy with her, and part of it has to do with the fact that she is at once completely familiar to me, so that I can be myself and she knows me very well and I trust her completely, but at the same time she is also a complete mystery to me in some ways. And there are times when we are lying in bed and I look over and sort of have a start. Because I realize here is this other person who is separate and different and has different memories and backgrounds and thoughts and feelings. It’s that tension between familiarity and mystery that makes for something strong, because, even as you build a life of trust and comfort and mutual support, you retain some sense of surprise or wonder about the other person."
It is amazingly refreshing to know that there is a man leading our country to success with such insight and such a strong sense of his being and his person and his relationships. He perfectly describes the essence of a successful relationship. He shows undying gratitude toward the woman who stands behind him and supports him every step of the way.
"Behind every great man is a great woman."

And it's a sad picture, the final blow hits you
Somebody else gets what you wanted again.

You know it's all the same, another time and place

Repeating history and you're getting sick of it.
