Summer

After reading The Lola File and her post about this upcoming summer, I started getting excited as well! This will be the first summer that I stay in Eugene once spring term ends and I can't wait for the change of summer scenery. It will definitely be different than the hustle and bustle of Downtown Portland in the middle of summer. I can't wait for new things, new faces and new experiences.

So he said, "Would it be alright if we just sat and talked for a little while, if in exchange for your time I give you this smile?"
So she said, "That's ok, as long as you can make me a promise not to break my little heart or leave me all alone in the summer."

stay a while longer

i want you to stay......i won't allow it.
For a moment this good time would never end
You and me
You and me
Just wasting time
I was kissing you
You were kissing me love
From good day into moonlight
Now a night so fine
Makes us wanna stay, stay, stay, stay for a while
Wasting time
I shall miss these things
When it all rolls by

Footloose and Fancy Free

I just picked up my cap and gown and baby blue tassel for the commencement ceremony coming this June. All of my friends have been buzzing around about how unreal it is that this moment has finally met us. To be honest, until I purchased the cap and gown, it hadn't hit me yet. This may, perhaps, be connected to the fact that I chose my major late in the game and added two minors, leaving me with summer classes and an extra fall term. Regardless, come mid-June, those of us who do remain in Eugene for a few months to a year longer than those that are immediately moving on will still be saying goodbye to so many faces. We'll be saying sayonara to the friends who have become family and eventually leaving the place that has become our home in the last four years here. It is difficult to imagine leaving our campus bubble, where every friend, every bar, every class, every favorite place and every college memory is only a block or so away. No longer will we be able to drop in on a whim, call each other to turn around and see we're already at the same place, walk into a room and guarantee you will recognize a large percentage of the people there, throw a party without needing to ask for RSVPs, or need a shoulder to lean on and actually get a shoulder right then and there instead of a phone conversation and a possible coffee date later in the week. There is such a mix of wonder and excitement about all of the paths that are just around the corner. Our world is quickly changing.

It has finally hit me. They say, "You can't go home again." I wonder where we'll all end up.

You're in my heart, you're in my soul
You'll be my breathe should I grow old
You are my lover, you're my best friend
You're in my soul

Peace

The world constantly fills with incredible amounts of activity and people rarely take a moment to breathe. I often find myself not even sure what it is that makes me relax. I decided that for those moments, I need a reminder of what brings me peace:

1. Waking up to the soft sound of the train off in the distance
2. Rain on a tin roof
3. The face my dad makes when he thinks he's funny
4. Riding down my street and seeing dozens of different colors of leaves overhead
5. Sitting down on a stool when entering an art room and the first stroke of paint on a canvas
6. The stars in San Andreas and at Bagby Hot Springs
7. Butterflies, ones that don't fade away
8. Track Town, USA
9. Feeling welcomed in an unfamiliar place
10. The intense feeling of anticipation before skiing down the mountain
11. Jesuit High's chapel
12. Coming home late, finding my mom waiting on the couch to chat
13. Knowing your best friend's house like the back of your hand
14. Things that never change
15. Things that constantly change
16. When my sister's hunger defines her mood
17. The mix of sadness and excitement on the last day of school
18. New shoes
19. A movie that is a perfect depiction of my current situation
20. The smell of Christmas
21. The rush of jumping off a bridge or out of a plane and life's perfect clarity in that instance
22. People watching - especially when strangers make friends
23. Teasing my dogs with the hose on a hot summer day
24. Fog and the perfect weather of early fall
25. Falling asleep in someone's arms
26. A big hug from my little brother
27. Waking up at 5AM to eat breakfast with dad
29. Music
30. A pleasantly unexpected touch

April

April hath put a spirit of youth in everything ~ William Shakespeare

I'm trying to learn to love April again. It is a month packed with some of the most turbulent moments of my past. This April shows promise. So far, I'm grateful for what this April has given me. Picking up many lost and broken pieces is never easy, but when you have people in your life that make you forget those turbulent moments, if only for a second, it all begins to feel worthwhile; it all begins to have meaning and you can finally learn to stop hating those experiences.

Today, Eugene was beautiful, but I still need to pull my self out of that slump. At times, when it is this nice, it becomes uncomfortable. I constantly desire that happy medium of early fall weather. The weather will stick around for another day or so and I plan on taking complete advantage of it and trying to appreciate it. Dont forget the sunscreen!

Idea of You

I fall so hard inside the idea of you
That's why with you can't say what I mean
Wanna stay but I think I'm getting out of here
I fall so hard inside the idea of you

Aw there you go again
I know you're shy
And I see you walk past with your friends
And I saw you laugh and whisper
And I'll talk, I want you here
But you turn your back and smile at me
Aw you got me feeling ok with that
So I'm not gonna pull your hair
